2006
Dear Friends of Little Moose Lodge

2006 is drawing to a close, and we would like to take this
opportunity to wish all of you, who have stayed with us, a
wonderful holiday season, and health and happiness in 2007.

We have completed our second season as owners of Little
Moose Lodge successfully. Our guest list doubled that of
our first season in 2005! We would like to acknowledge the
Beckel, Hoeft, McGinty, Thompson, Violante, Hoggren, Blue,
Wallace, Kolodka, Barth, Reiner, Thomas, Bradley, Hartmann
and Wahl parties who have been coming to Little Moose Lodge
since we have been owners and most of you for years and
even decades! A special thank you to Cal Janisch, a former
lodge owner (1977-87) who has been an invaluable source of
information on his visit’s here the past two years.

We continually upgrade our website, so check it out often.
Thank you to those who have sent us letters and pictures of
your vacation at Little Moose Lodge. It means a lot to us
that you share your memories long after your vacation’s are
over.

Although not as overwhelmed as our rookie season, we were
definitely busy. Some of the things accomplished this past
season were new shingles on cabins #7; #8 and most recently
cabin #1 and the gazebo which were completed in between
snowfalls and Indian summer October weather. We also
installed a new ultra-violet filtered water system, new
refrigerators and mattresses in half our cabins.

We will continue with improvements in 2007, including
furnishing the remainder of our cabins with new
refrigerators, adding more new mattresses and general
upgrades to keep our cabins comfortable for you, our
guests. We have replaced the Suzuki motors on our Misty
River boats with new Yamaha 30 HP electric start four
stroke motors. Also, in the plans this spring is to build
an addition on to Cabin #8 so it will sleep 8 persons and
shingle cabins #3 and #5 in the fall.

It is still pending with the MNR, but we have applied for
boat caches on Beadle and Loonhaunt lakes, were keeping our
fingers crossed.

Many of our guests have requested hats and tee shirts; we
will have them available for 2007.

This past season weather was beautiful, but a little too
dry, as we only had about five rainfalls through to August.
This inconvenienced us at times with fire bans, low water
levels on our lakes and at times some tough fishing in the
dog days of summer. With water surface temperatures
reaching 75 degrees F, it sure made for some great fun
playing in the water.

Walleye fishing was really good from May opener through the
end of June, some really large ones were caught in this
time frame by our guests. Barry Lafond caught the largest,
within sight of the lodge; it was 32” and weighed just over
10 pounds! Justin Carpenter 29”, Jeff Krisik 30” and your
host Terry’s 30” walleye were all just shy of that double
digit 10 pound mark. There was a lot of walleye between 25’
and 28” caught by our guests this past season. The best
walleye bite was from late August through to October where
they were stacked in 30 feet of water and you would catch
15-20 eye’s per hour.

Smallmouth bass fishing was excellent throughout most of
the season, with the largest ones caught in June, in the
first week, Barb Hoggren caught a 21” slab, and in the
second week Susan Krisik caught a 21” hog, both these
trophies were released back into Clearwater Lake.

Muskie fishing wasn’t too popular with most of our guests,
but some huge ones were still caught. George Roach caught
and released a 52” monster at the north end of Clearwater
Lake, and honorable mention goes to Jason Gyulay who lost a
lengthy battle with a 50” plus brute, maybe next year!

As with the Muskie fishing, the Lake trout fishing on
Pipestone Lake was popular with several fishing parties.
The Richardson’s as well as the Wahl family did very well
this year, the largest was caught by Bill Wahl, a gorgeous
32” brute.

Our sincere apology if we forgot to mention your large
fish, we have several hundred guests and are going by
memory and our guest book.

Northern Pike fishing was hit and miss all season, some
good numbers were caught on Panarama. Only a few large
gators’ were caught though including Scott Halders 15 lb
fish from Footprint Lake and Terry’s 38” pike caught in May
on Panarama Lake.

We will not be at any trade shows this winter, both Terry
and Monica are living and working in Edmonton, Alberta.
Both our daughters Kristy and Terrilyn are attending
university in Edmonton. Our camp dogs Daisy and Bailey are
doing well at a relative’s acreage. We can still be reached
here either by email or our toll free phone number. If you
are attending any of the All Canada shows early in 2007,
you may want to stop by the booths to apply for your
passports if you don’t have one. Effective in 2008
they will be required if crossing the border by land.

We promise the service and friendliness we have established
the past two years will continue, and we are
looking forward to your company in the ’07 season!

Your hosts
Monica ,Terry, Kristy and Terrilyn Berryman
