These clear oxygen rich lakes have many classic muskie holding structures including weedy saddles, rock reefs, underwater humps, mid lake shoals, weedy bays, deep shorelines and fallen shoreline trees. The muskie has a smorgasbord of perch, whitefish, walleye, bass and huge populations of ciscoes; this endless food supply produces good numbers of trophy muskie.
When fishing for muskie, it's common to catch them in the 30 to 42 inch size range. Quite regularly Little Moose Lodge guests catch trophy musky from 42 to 48 inches from our waters. Every year there is always another few anglers joining the 50 inch plus muskie club. Over the past few years, Clearwater Lake has produced several 52 inch muskies and Pipestone Lake has given up a couple of huge 55 inch muskellunge!
When it comes to muskie fishing, our lakes have been a well kept secret; we don't host very many parties that fish specifically for muskie. The more popular and near-by Lake of the Woods gets a lot of the muskie fishing pressure; which is fine by us and our guests. We will supply our guests detailed lake maps with muskie hot spots. If you are willing to put the time in, you will get a lot of follows and should catch several real nice musky.
